Switchboard Operator

Position Summary

Kelowna General Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Casual Switchboard Operator Clerk to join their team in Kelowna B.C. The position works rotating days and evenings: 06:30-14:30, 07:30-13:30, 08:00-16:00, 10:00-18:00, 13:30-19:30, 14:30-22:30. Days of work: rotating. Work hours range from 0 to 37.5 per week, with shifts available on short notice or pre-scheduled to cover leaves.

Responsibilities

• Process calls (internal and external) and establish communication links.
• Provide information to customers and assist in relaying messages to appropriate source.
• Answer emergency calls and follow established communications procedures in emergency situations such as cardiac arrest, bomb threats and disasters.
• Maintain physician paging system and after‑hours physician emergency lines per established protocol.
