Supplier Quality Engineer
Job Description
Position Summary:
Monitors and manages supplier quality and delivery performance to ensure products and services are delivered to required quality and delivery performance levels. Directs examinations of product batches for quality issues, coordinates material returns if found defective seeking the least impact on lost productivity. Tracks defect rates in PPM and areas of the manufacturing process that result in defects. Determines and performs assessments for effectiveness of corrective actions as needed. Collaborates with Procurement, Technology and NPD teams to qualify new suppliers. Coordinates and, where appropriate, approves supplier PPAPs. Coordinates and, where appropriate, approves supplier 8Ds. Assists key suppliers with quality improvement opportunities. Main quality communication channel between plant and supplier.
