Job Description

Description The Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the Schulich School of Engineering University of Calgary has a sessional instructor position to teach ENME 667 L01 Fracture Mechanics in the Fall 2026 term.

Course Description Basic fracture theory, failure criteria, overview of fracture mechanics, brittle and ductile failure, crack tip parameters, geometric considerations, methods of analysis, fracture toughness and testing standards. Applications in design, fatigue subcritical crack growth, creep and impact.

Course Schedule Lecture: Thursday 6:00 PM – 8:45 PM

Responsibilities and Qualifications The successful candidate will have earned at least a master’s in mechanical engineering, must have a demonstrated background in the subject matter related to the course, and must have very good previous teaching performance or show potential for very good to excellent teaching ability.
