Registered Nurse – In-patient Mental Health – Temporary Full Time (Sault Ste. Marie)

Purpose

As part of our Schedule 1 facility, we provide short-term, acute care to adults (18 years or older) who are experiencing acute symptoms of responsible mental illness. The inpatient milieu is designed for adults who are acutely ill and unable to manage in the community. Care includes psychiatric assessment, stabilization, treatment and transition planning utilizing a bio-psycho-social-spiritual approach. Willingness to cross-train in all inpatient mental health areas is required.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Participate and collaborate with the Mental Health and Addictions Program, other health care providers and community partners in provision of patient care.
• Effectively use the Standards of Nursing Practice and the Nursing Process in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of the patient.
• Provide educational support to staff, patients, and families on psychiatric issues.
