Patient Blood Management Coordinator

Overview

The Patient Blood Management (PBM) Coordinator works in collaboration with the Surgery Health Service and the Transfusion Committee to provide optimal care for patients anticipating possible transfusion. The PBM Coordinator partners with physicians, professional staff, patients, and families to develop a comprehensive blood management program that meets community needs, ensures compliance with regulatory requirements for the administration of blood and blood products, and promotes best practices in blood management. The focus of this role is perioperative blood management in patients identified as anemic and iron deficient.

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing or equivalent preferred.
• Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse (RN) required.
