Job Description

Position Summary

: Rudiments of music theory equivalent to the AMU4M Ontario Secondary School curriculum, including rhythm and meter, staff notation, key signatures, scales and modes, intervals, transposition, triads and seventh chords.

Qualifications – Required: A Master of Music and evidence of success teaching Music Theory in a classroom setting at either the Secondary or Post-Secondary level, either in an institutional or non-institutional setting.


Qualifications – Assets and Preferences: Master or Doctoral degrees in Music Theory or Music Composition are preferred. Evidence of being a successful teacher of Music Theory, including a record of success on standardized examinations (e.g., Royal Conservatory exams), letters of support or references, official course evaluations, strong teaching dossier, strong and consistent record of enrolment in private/classroom theory instruction year over year, engagement with pedagogical technologies...
