The SA Virtual Emergency Service (SAVES) operates every evening between 7pm and 7am giving virtual ED support to 33 rural hospitals. SAVES doctors conduct each shift from the RDWA offices at Mile End. Supported hospitals can refer category 3 to 5 presentations for telephone and video consultation with a SAVES GP. Patient records are managed through Sunrise EMR, with consult orders referred to SAVES and a follow up phone call from the originating site to initiate a consultation. The SAVES facility has VC equipment to dial into all supported hospital emergency departments. Progress notes for the emergency presentations are entered directly into Sunrise.
