Overview
Under the direction of the Laboratory Manager and Clinical Supervisor, the Laboratory Technologist collaborates within a team to analyze specimens, validate results, and ensure accuracy of patient information and processing. Responsibilities include operating automated equipment and manual methods, participating in internal and external quality control programs, maintaining and troubleshooting instruments, and maintaining knowledge of analytical techniques. Under the direction of the Technologist II, this role involves orientation and training of new staff, coworkers and external clients, monitoring daily workflow, adapting to fluctuations, and demonstrating leadership and teamwork. The Laboratory Technologist I provides services in accordance with established standards and the Mission, Vision, Values and policies and procedures of Alberta Precision Laboratories.
