Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Carefor the captive grizzly bear at GBR through the provision of food, water,
    hygiene, psychological enrichment, and habitat improvement.
  • Assist
    the GBR Experience
    Supervisor and GBR Animal Welfare Coordinator with the design,
    development, and maintenance of the wildlife habitat, refuge facilities, and
    interpretive programs.
  • Ensure
    that all applicable wildlife protocols, procedures, and regulations are
    followed.
  • Maintain
    database of bear behavior, habitat statistics, procedural matters, and other
    factors to ensure that it is accessible for GBR staff, KHMR management, and
    provincial officials.
  • Control
    other wildlife near GBR that could affect the captive bear's behavior and/or
    refuge operations.
  • Maintain
    professional knowledge as appropriate by fostering relationships with other
    wildlife professionals and reading any literature pertaining to grizzly bears.
