Role and Facility Information

Come work as an Emergency Physician with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH). The Squamish General Hospital Emergency Department (SGH ED) is seeking dedicated physicians for a mix of weekend, daytime, and night shifts with opportunities for additional shifts. Compensation is provided through a group service contract and positions may be eligible for Rural Program funding. Squamish General Hospital serves a population of approximately 24,000 and operates a 13‑bed emergency department. The emergency physician also provides cross‑coverage for the acute medical inpatient unit and an adjoining long‑term care facility for urgent issues. The ED receives roughly 20,000 visits per year with a current schedule of four single‑coverage physician shifts per day. Laboratory, CT scanning, x‑ray, and ultrasound are available on site, and specialist consultation is available at Lions Gate Hospital, approximately a 45‑minute EHS transfer from Squamish.
