Role Overview

As Director of Software Engineering, you will lead the Berkshire Hathaway Group, Life Reinsurance Division through a multi‑year modernization of its technology and application landscape, replacing legacy systems with a modern, scalable, and data-driven platform designed to unlock automation, improve productivity, and enable advanced capabilities—including the thoughtful integration of AI.

This role sits at the center of that effort: shaping engineering strategy, elevating delivery standards, and building a high-performing organization that can execute against critical business priorities. The successful candidate will be responsible for instituting forward-looking software engineering practices, driving consistency and quality across the development lifecycle, and championing the adoption of emerging paradigms such as agentic AI to accelerate innovation and outcomes.
